LATA GOUVEIA & BAND

lata_LiquIDLata Gouveia started out in central London in the 1990's
playing small folk clubs and open mike nights.
His heroes were Bob Dylan, Neil Young, John Lee Hooker
and a number of other great American songwriters
and performers.

After a début CD produced by Paul Lennon in 1997
and sold by Rough Trade in London, Lata joined
Pop/Rock band Atlantico as lead singer and
main songwriter.

For the next 10 years he worked in Pop, Rock and
Reggae bands in the UK and in Portugal,
touring in England, Wales, Portugal, Spain, Belgium
and Scandinavia.

rotation radio single in Portugal in 2004.
In 2005, Lata returned to the UK and decided to go back
to his roots. He began performing and recording as a solo
acoustic artist and it was not long before one of his heroes
Rocky Frisco from the JJ Cale band invited him to go
to Tulsa, Oklahoma and learn from some of the most legendary
old musicians around. For the next 3 years, Lata would play
and record with the likes of Rocky Frisco, Steve Pryor
(Commitments, Paul Butterfield), Tom Skinner, Randy Crouch
and many others in Texas and Oklahoma.

The album “Road US-75”, released on Texas label Captiva Records
is testimony to the transformational forces at work in Lata's career
at that time.

lata_sitting_playingIn the Fall of 2010, Lata moved to Luxembourg and is quickly
establishing himself as one of the best songwriters in the country.
With a brand new band backing him up an a cool mix of
countrified folk/rock, Lata is already delighting audiences
with his unmistakeable voice and the stories and profound messages
that his songs carry. The musicians in the band are amongst of his biggest fans
and this magical connection is easy to see in their live performances.
