CHARLOTTE HAESEN

A particular voice & different music: Charlotte doesn’t copy anyone
Charlotte Haesen blends jazz and pop into a strong, sensitive mix
with a joyful, yet vulnerable expression, that touches the audiences.

Already in her first years, Charlotte is a bright person that likes
to go her own way. She grew up in Belgium with her Dutch father,
a musician, her French-African mother, an artist herself and her
younger sister Salomé. She learned to see the world from different
perspectives.

At the age of 17 she started her musical education at the conservatories
in Maastricht and Amsterdam. She developed her gift for transforming
the traditions of jazz and pop with her own arrangements and personal
sound. She formed her group with young musicians from Iceland, Latvia,
Luxemburg, and Curacao, that gave her what she was looking for:
communicate perfectly,improvise on a song and make something new of it.
Work hard and have fun together. This is what makes music sublime for her,
and she can make her audience share that experience.

In 2010 the international organization Eujazz selected her to perform
at jazz festivals in Maastricht, Aachen, Genk and Liège. For the first time
she played a repertoire of exclusively own compositions, which was
warmly received by the audiences. The critics in press and TV called her
the revelation of these festivals. Since that time, the bookings are increasing.

In 2011 she makes more appearances on pop stages. While playing in the
streets of Amsterdam, she is discovered and adopted by a group of
professionals, who create the clips that you can now see on YouTube.

She releases her first album ‘Salomé’. The CD has everything to please:
a cristallyne voice, an original and memorable music, a personal universe.
It confirms that, in spite of her 23 years, her art has acquired full maturity.
