KID COLLING CARTEL

Stephan Colling, probably better known as, Kid Colling, by his friends and in musical circles, is a guitar player, singer, performer, composer and arranger who was born in Bogota, Columbia. He was adopted by a Belgian mother and a Luxembourgish father who provide him with the possibilities of a full education and a well intentioned life. He grew up in Clervaux, a small village in the north of Luxembourg.

As a child, Stephan never came in close contact with any musical instruments even though his grand parents were musicians and played in a local orchestra. Somehow, he was drawn to the magic sounds of Mississippi Blues and the swing and rhythm of Big Bands that he sometimes heard on the radio, although it was unknown to Steph and his parents at the time. On his 16th birthday, he received his first electric guitar, which gave him the opportunity to express those mysterious melodies he heard and always felt. He immediately realized that the Blues was the music that had touched his soul as a young boy, and he launched himself deep into the pursuit of the dream to play the Blues, effortlessly.

In 2004, Steph left Luxembourg and began studying Education in Brussels. During this time, he was drawn deeper into the world of Blues. Finally, he decided to pursue a life as a professional musician when he realized that he spent more time rehearsing and practicing mastering his guitar with endless hours of concentration learning music, instead of his lessons in traditional education. Despite everything he persevered and graduated from Brussels in 2008 and landed in Paris at the American School of Modern Music where he discovered Jazz. Suddenly, he found an opportunity to forge his dream to come true. He attacked the music and learned music theory and harmony, composition and arrangement with teachers like Peter Giron, Rick Margitza, Manuel Rocheman, Bernard Vidal, François Fichu, Christopher Culpo and Phil Hikfiker.

Presently, Steph completes his music studies in Paris. He gives private lessons and music courses benefitted by his time studying Education. He also has a number of music projects alive in support of his and his friends desire to play viable and meaningful music. After being the front man of the Rhythm and Blues group known as “Outsiders Mood” and after meeting and playing with different Blues Players like  Fred Baretto, Claude Schaus, Dave White, Rachelle Plas, Ruben El Pavoni a.m.m..., he decided to create his own quartet called "The Kid Colling Cartel" where he can express all the things he loves and has learned in music.
