Waltzing-Parke RECORDS 5 YEARS CELEBRATION
presents:

MAGGIE PARKE starting 21:00maggie_parke

Maggie is no newcomer to the music scene. She was lead singer
and co-writer in the 80's band Parc Cafe, has written and performed
several songs that have been European film title tracks, contributed
songs to European T.V. series, written the libretto for and performed
in the Modern Opera 'Smalltime' to sold out crowds, and co-written
and produced songs for other artists.
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, U.S.A., she has lived most of her life
in Europe, but travels to the U.S.A. frequently to work and to spend
time with her family. "I'm lucky to have the best of both worlds,
the convenience of America, with the culture of Europe".
She considers herself basically a writer. "My dream is to someday
write a song that could be viewed as a 'standard' and would be played
and performed by many other artists for the next 50 years."

Her new and long awaited album, EVER, is her first solo project in a maggie_parke_cover_ever
number of years. 15 tracks combining the roots of classic rock with
the input of Jazz and seasoned with, here a touch of dance, there a
splash of ethnic, makes this album a listening pleasure.
This album has a sound that is new and vibrant. From the ethnic
instruments used as hip hop beats in "Roll with the Punches" to the
intimate guitar and voice on "Helpless in Your Hands" this album
is a feast for the ears.

"I've spent a number of years working to hone my craft as a songwriter.
I equate it with the Japanese form of poetry called Haiku. The art of it
is to elegantly express the idea or concept in as few words a possible.
And in the process manage to make them rhyme and work in a melody
and harmonic structure that makes a song. It's a lovely challenge."

With over a hundred songs to her name in many different styles,
the songs on this album represent her best.

DAMIEN PRUD'HOMME TRIBAL JAZZ PROJECT starting 22:30

Damien Prud'homme is a composer, arranger and multi-instrumentalistdamien_prud_homme_04
(saxophones, flute, clarinette...)
Born in France in 1973 Damien is a major player in the Lorraine jazz scene.
The writer and arranger founded the Damien Prud'homme Quartet in 2000,
and in 2004 recorded and released "Intuitions" for Hemiola Music and in
2007 "Reflections" for Cristal Records. He is now signed to WPR Jazz with
his third album called "Tribal Jazz Project" released in April 2009.
The raw sound of this album and the acoustic instruments is the symbol
of a return to the source... The totem spirit of a small tribe lives in its
primitive music, through which retains its essence, its breath of life:
music with power in its simplicity, one that touches directly
the core of your being.
The deep roots of Jazz originate in Africa.
It is this route that the 5 musicians of Tribal Jazz Project aim to explore...
a tapestry of percussion and drums weaved into the fabric of the group.
Damien Prud'homme invites you into his world through his compositions:
a delicate balance between melody and drum...

He is currently Artistic Director (and arranger) for the Mister Oz Big Band, cover_prud_homme_tribal_jazz_project_cover
the Glenn Swing Orchestra, and member of the Orchestra National du
Jazz Luxembourg. From 2003 to 2005 he was the instigator of the jam
sessions at the Trinitarian.
He has played alongside jazz greats such as Bob Mintzer, Randy Brecker,
Frank Agulhon, Erc Barret, Morgan Agren, Pierre Alain Goualch, Joe Fonda,
Frank Tortiller and Stéphane Guillaume, to name a few, performing in Jazz
in Berlin, the Arsenal in Metz, the Festival Musica in Strasbourg, the
Nancy Jazz Pulsations Festival, the Lionel Hampton Jazz Club, the Trier Festial,
the Festival of Nice, the Festival International of Jazz in Perm (Russia),
the Marly Jazz Festival and in the Philharmonie in Luxembourg.

His was awarded the Diploma of Excellence and the Gold Medal in Saxophone
from the Conservatory of Metz. He now teaches in the department of Jazz at
the Conservatoire of Metz, and is involved in master classes for their big band,
