Nelson Novela plays original songs which are a world mix
of his musical roots and all kind of influences.
His rhythms, melodies and harmonies reach back to jazz, funk, afrobeat
and rock merging into authentic multi-styled compositions.
The sound is balanced and ingenious, sometimes synthetised. His high and
low ranged silky voice shows strong musicality and great energy that
brings characteristic sounds from nature and daily life. A concert with
Nelson is always a fresh charismatic and appealing performance with it’s
compulsively danceable sound.

From 2004 Nelson studied music at the Rotterdam Conservatory of Music and
Dance (Codarts) where he took guitar and vocal lessons. He quickly became
part of the world/jazz scene in the Netherlands as he joined his family band
Neco Novellas with Neco Novela, Isildo Novela, Isabel Novela and Cidalia Novela.
Nelson on electric guitar and backing vocals, was also involved in composing.

Together they recorded three albums : Mita Famba (« Would you go ? » in 2007)
and Ku Khata (« New Dawn » in 2008) and Munthu (« Somebody » 2011).
With this band Nelson got to play in several renown venues and festivals like
