MIJO BISCAN

Mijo has accrued the respect and adoration of music lovers all over Australia and Europe for his intense live shows. Ranging from the intimate and gently delivered prose in music that will leave you wondering where you just went, to the enlivening, bombastic chant anthems, enough to start any mild riot.

Although references are made to Jeff Buckley, Rufas Wainwright, Fleet Foxes and Leonard Cohen among others, Mijo continues to elude the pigeon-holes of critics with his fiercely unique voimijo biscance in the world of song writing and also with his personal expression and musical inventiveness.

Mijo Biscan's previous musica project was Melbourne based Alt-Rock-Prog-Folk group called Lamplight. Their success in their homeland of Australia propelled Mijo to Europe to continue spreading his music to fans on the other side of the planet.

Previously performing and commanding a band of up to 18 people including horn sections, strings and choirs, Mijo is now returning to his roots as a troubadour of simple song and simple truths told with his unique voice and way.

The critcs say:

“Mijo Biscan could easily be labelled as an Australian Jeff Buckley.” - Fasterlouder

“Moody, heartbreaking, stunning, fucking epic.” - Beat Magazine

“Fantastic haunting pop. There are Buckley-esque tones to the vocals - perfect for the soaring melodies. Lovely warm, acoustic instrumentation. Defo one for fans of Augie March, Mum, Beirut etc.” - Dan Buhagiar, Triple J

“To use terms like ‘tight’ and ‘impressive’ seem lame and pedestrian. Pass us our thesaurus: we’re out of superlatives! Magnificent: brilliant and elegant, elevated exalted and excellent. We expected Alt-Folk, we didn’t expect to fall in love. We were awash in a sea of goodwill and the feeling that we were sharing something truly special. We will see this band again. And again. And again. See you there.” - Fasterlouder
